After police wrongfully arrested Paúl Guañuna, his body was found the next day at the bottom of a ravine. Guañuna follows a father's relentless fight for justice, uniting youth and a wounded community to confront racism, police brutality, and impunity in Ecuador.
THE FILMMAKER
David Lasso is passionate about nature and the cultural relationships we have with it. His work focuses on ancestral knowledge of Indigenous and Afro-descendant cultures, gender, childhood, youth, human rights, and agroecology. In academia, his creative work focuses on developing projects on sustainability that combine film and permaculture. David holds a degree in Social Communication, a Master’s in Cultural Studies, a Diploma in Documentary Film, and training in photography, permaculture, and meditation.
