TOROBORO: THE NAME OF THE PLANTS follows a botanical expedition deep into Ecuador’s Amazon, where members of the Indigenous Huaorani community revisit memories of the violent colonization and displacement they endured during the 1960s oil boom. As elders recount the destruction of their ancestral world, environmental activists and scientists struggle to protect one of the last untouched forests where isolated Huaorani groups still live beyond the reach of modern society.
