MIRELLA

Now in her nineties, legendary photographer Mirella Ricciardi reflects on a life spent documenting East Africa during the final years of colonial rule. Through her photographs and memories, the film explores art, history, and the complicated legacy of images shaped by beauty, power, and loss.

THE FILMMAKER

Born in 1996 in Bruck an der Mur, Austria, Oliver Bruck is a filmmaker and biologist. He studied Documentary Film at the University of the Arts London and Biology at the University of Vienna, a background that informs his multidisciplinary approach to storytelling. After his debut documentary EXPLORING HANS HASS (2019), he gained further recognition for his latest intimate portrait MIRELLA (2025) won best documentary at Kingston International Film Festival in London and which screened at Hof International Film Festival.
