Nich L. Perez is a Filipino-American filmmaker, researcher, and educator currently based in Los Angeles and Austin, Texas. He treats every film grain or pixel as sacred, allowing moments as fragments of memories to transcend through the lens as a whole, beautiful and inspired. As an impetus to tell stories that matter, he believes that great stories empower - meaningful stories from the heart.

In 2014 he was part of the Human Rights and Photography Program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in partnership with the Magnum Foundation as he worked with the unsheltered clients of Wards Island in New York City. Before doing his research fellowship in the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, he was an Assistant Professor in Communications and Visual Arts at Holy Cross College at Notre Dame, Indiana, and a supervising faculty at the digital media studio.

With 15 years of experience in the fields of education and filmmaking, his work, mostly in the realm of mission-driven media, experimental, and documentary, intersects with creativity, meaning, mental wellness, the ontology of pixels, and metaphysical cinema.

Many of his work has been selected in various film festivals and exhibitions, including (In) Justice For All, Great Lakes, Flicker’s Rhode Island, and One Nation Film Festivals. And his extensive mission-driven media work with various nonprofits continues to support their local and international causes from the scholarships of poor children in Haiti to the unsheltered populations of Arizona. Nich continues to share this passion of educating hearts and forming minds with his students and collaborators, inside and outside the classroom, and in the projects that they create, one pixel at a time.
